  • LINOCUT PRINTMAKING

Expanding on the animal illustrations, these relief prints were made using lino cuts and black ink.

Using high contrast photographs, the animals figure was outlined and then transferred onto a piece of linoleum. To create a heavy black negative space, the positive areas were cut out from the lino to avoid them coming into contact with the paper. This resulted in anything untouched being black as with relief printing, everything is reversed.

The result are prints that seem to show the aquatic animals in their natural environments, a deep dark ocean.
