Inspired by the idea of the built context, these black and white images explore notions of suspension, temporality, and the phenomenal through the use of symmetrical and repetitious architectural details.

Various photographs were taken of Melbourne’s urban landscape from different locations and angles. Backgrounds were removed to heighten the buildings abstract qualities and made symmetrical along a range of axes.

The resulting images are foreboding and monolithic in scale, revealing a decontextualized yet strangely familiar object suspended in non-objective space.
